I have a bit of a special place for these guys. I've had the privilege of capturing Sam's beautiful BUMP, was there to capture the arrival of baby Lincoln and now 4 months later, completed this gorgeous trilogy with their BUB session in my studio. I've just realised i haven't yet blogged any images from their bump or birth, I may do that later if Sam is keen. For now, here are just a few of my favourites from last weeks session. HOW ABOUT LINC'S EYELASHES?! And Miss Peyton was an absolute dream, super big sister! 2 beautiful babes, how clever are Sam and Troy? I can't wait to photograph again them in a few months with their big boys too :-) Thanks guys, it's been an ABSOLUTE pleasure to have "worked" with you xx
One thing that brings me SO much joy is to see my families come back time after time. These guys are particularly memorable for me in that they were the first family to trust me to capture their beautiful brand new babe Milo AT HOME. Thus began my obsession with lifestyle photography. So thanks Kate for that little nudge! So glad we did it! It was such a pleasure to see them again almost 2 years on for a mini session at the breakwater. I won't like, it was cold, windy and wet under foot and poor little Milo was a bit over it all by the end of it, but how gorgeous is this soft winter light behind this beautiful family? Totally worth it!! Thanks again Kate, Elliot, Milo and Ari the wonder dog. You are one gorgeous little family :-)
I first met Fiona at her bump session, she was pregnant with this beautiful little poppet. It was a while ago now but I still remember our lovely chat; how she was feeling about knowing her baby would be born with a cleft palate, and how she decided not to ignore this fact, nor make a big deal of it. So we captured beautiful baby Hannah in all her newborn gorgeousness (she was SUCH a darling, superstar baby too!), plus we arranged to see her again in the studio for a mini session post-surgery. Here are some of my favourites from her newborn session, you may remember these, she was shown SO much love when I posted these, I know her mum Fiona really appreciated it.
Scroll down for her second session...
Enter 1 year old, post-surgery beautiful baby Hannah! I was so so happy to see her and her lovely mum Fiona again, I loved this session. Wouldn't you know it though, the poor little poppet managed to faceplant something right before her session (as they tend to do!). So her beautiful lips were a little swollen and bruised, but I tried to edit them as little as possible. Such an amazing transformation for an already beautiful baby girl.
I'm SO grateful that you asked me to document this time in Hannah's and your lives Fiona, A time that she won't remember but will treasure the photos from i'm sure. Can't wait to see you guys all again. xx
A beautiful Mum + daughter sesh from late last year when the sun was shining and the beach was the place to be. I've been busting to post this one, how photogenic are these gorgeous girls. Love that Dina took the time out of their very busy lives to create such precious memories for her daughter Hannah. She'll treasure these. xx
This beautiful trio is yet another of my recent FAVE sessions. Again, all the elements point to an absolutely perfect scenario, all I had to do was go in there and shoot the gorgeousness. Amazing, unique house (yes another squeal as i drove up the driveway!), styled to perfection, beautiful, BEAUTIFUL, ridiculously-photogenic family and then there's baby Ned. LOOK AT THOSE DIMPLES!!! This is a perfect example of why I LOVE photographing slightly older babes. The eye contact, the smiles and the personality. It's just the best.
So if you've just had a baby but think you've left it too late for newborn photos? No way jose! I LOVE that 2-4month age, bring me your babes!
Thanks Bec, Matt and beautiful Mr Ned. This is one of my all-time fave sessions, and I absolutely LOVED meeting you guys. xx
I do go on a bit about how much I love in-home lifestyle photography (to the point where i'm actually considering ditching the studio altogether, eek!). I also go on about how "you don't need an amazingly glamorous house", which is absolutely true. All I need is a beautiful little pocket of light and a loved up little family and i'm THERE. With bells on. I have to admit though, I may have done a little happy dance as I drove up Dermott and Steffs driveway (after I picked my jaw up off the floor!) and parked in front of their GORGEOUSLY reno'd period home. I may or may not have let out some quiet little squeals as they showed me around inside (i'm such a dork).
And then I saw this brand new family all together and to be honest, we could've been at the tip and it would still have been the most beautiful sight. There's something very special about 2 becoming 3. And little Miss Indi is simply divine. Such a gorgeous little family, and have I mentioned their 5 (YES 5!) dogs?? As I drove home I actually thought to myself "if i've managed to stuff this up then i'm hanging up my camera!"... incredible location, beautiful family, lovely light. I couldn't ask for a more perfect opportunity.
Thanks Steff, Dermi & baby Indi, hopefully you gathered from my excitement on the day, that I LOVED hanging with you!
PS... scroll right down to the end to see some of my faves from their gorgeous BUMP session too!
and not forgetting their gorgeous studio BUMP session! I'm a bit in love with Steff's hair!
There's so much I want to say about these guys and this session. In short: this is one of my favourite families and this is one of my ABSOLUTE favourite sessions. Simple as that. The beautiful Draffen's have been with me from my humble beginnings and have been the most wonderful, wonderful regulars. And what makes that even more special to me is that mum Kate takes the most AMAZING photos herself. Her instagram feed is a beautiful documentation of her kids' life, one which I love to follow and one which they'll love her for when they're older. So i'm beyond flattered that they keep coming back. It was my aim during this session to make sure KATE was in front of the camera for once, so I did focus a lot on this gorgeous mumma, which I think is only fair.
I won't lie, I got in the car after our session last night, hands frozen in the shape of my camera thinking "oh heck, i hope I got something special for them, that was hectic (they have 4 kids, hello?!)". But then I couldn't wipe the massive beaming smile off my face as i looked through them at home later that night, and then I couldn't edit them quickly enough to show Kate tonight.
We embraced the beautiful chaos that a family of 6 brings with it, I over-shot like a champion and we rolled with the crazy, FREEZING wind and hiccups... and as a result I have a collection of photos that I am SO damn proud of and am busting to show off. Sure I have heaps of your more traditional "smile and wave kids" portrait-style photos still to add, you have to have them in there of course, but THESE ones, these are the ones that make my heart utterly sing. All the feels (sorry I hate that expression but there it is!), the imperfection (yes more than a little blur) and ALL THAT LOVE. I opened their gallery tonight to find just ONE shot to share, and I came out with over 100 "favourited" images, so I decided to do things a little differently and share my absolute faves in a little blog post. I'm sure i'll find more when I have a proper look!
I can't thank you enough Kate, truly, for bringing your beautiful family to me time and time again. I absolutely love this gallery, and hope you do too! Until next time (!!) lovely xx
PS... how BEAUTIFUL is Kate?! And i think we have a budding photographer in Mr Caleb, he was loving my fuji!
Flashback to those warm summer nights of family time on the beach. I can't wait for those long evenings to be back upon us again. The best. And this was one of my fave sessions from late last year (only taken me 7 months to blog it, sorry Kel!!). Another BEAUTIFUL family (both inside and out), another gorgeous Warrnambool summer sunset, and another gallery i'm totally in love with. Here are just a FEW of my faves.
Oh and PS... those two gorgeous little princesses... they're as sweet & lovely as they are beautiful.
Another beautiful family with their beautiful new babe, another lifestyle session i'm utterly in love with. Thank you so much Allira & Blair for trusting me to capture your beautiful new family in the comfort of your home. How lucky am I to meet so many amazing little families?
I've been meaning to post this one for months. One of my most favourite, wild, candid, natural (windy!) shoots yet. There's never a dull moment when Tristyn & her gorgeous girls come for a session and that's just the way I love it. Tristyn lets me go nuts (creatively) and capture her girls exactly how they are, lively and hilarious and that's why I always look forward to seeing them. Flashback to those lovely summer nights on our gorgeous windy beaches, late 2016 (this ones been patiently waiting to be blogged!). Hope life is treating you three well over in Jakarta girls, I adore your adventurous life. x
Here's part 1 of gorgeous Bec & Jason's BUMP 2 BUB session, when Freddie was still a beautiful bump. I ADORE the tones in this sunset session, who misses those gorgeous summer nights hey? If you haven't seen their beautiful BUB session, check out the blog post after this one.
Thank you for asking me to capture this life-changing, amazing event for you Bec & Jason, i've loved it! x
Bec & Jason were awesome enough to wait until I was home from Tonga for their at-home newborn session. Baby Freddie was 3 months old by which stage, which I think is PERFECT. How beautiful are his chubby cheeks, big smiles and obvious connection with his mum & dad? I now encourage families to wait a month or two for "newborn" sessions as I just LOVE this 2-4 month age. And best yet, they opted for a "home lifestyle session". MY FAVE (if you haven't already got that! ha!). Thanks so much for waiting for me guys, I love you for that! It was such a joy to capture this gorgeous trio at home. Here are just a few of our faves, and stay tuned for a peek at their equally gorgeous BUMP session to follow x
When one of your favourite, most gorgeous families asks for a session in their BEAUTIFUL home, it's a no-brainer... BEST BRIEF EVER!! I know I harp on about these in-home sessions, but they are just absolutely my favourite thing. If you're still on the fence, please scroll down and have a squiz at the Rayners session and tell me I haven't converted you. Admittedly they do have a sensational house, BUT you don't NEED one to make beautiful memories at home with your family. All we need is a few gorgeous pockets of light, a big bed and i'll do the rest.
Oh did I mention that this lovely lady right here is a VERY talented photographer herself? Chantal has just started up her own photog business (hooray!!) and I am so very proud of her and thrilled to be asked to capture the beautiful Rayner family yet again. And they ARE as lovely and fun as they look too. WINNING!!
And you won't believe how much i've whittled down my faves for this post... this is just a fraction of the session, eek!
Another beaut returning family (gosh I love them!). Mum Janie is a very talented photographer herself so I was very flattered that she brought her beautiful crew along again so SHE could get in a few too. I'm pretty sure it only felt like yesterday I was taking big sister Poppy's newborn photos, am I right Janie??
Something a bit unusual for me. A studio "beauty" mini for the lovely Sammy who wanted to give her hubby something a little more personal on their 1st wedding anniversary. As you can imagine, it's impossible to take an even remotely bad photo of this lovely, so it was a fabulous, fun, different session for me. LADIES, this ones for you. Want to treat your other half to something more personal or just allow me to show you how beautiful you are. Be brave, it's totally worth it.
I have so much love for my gorgeous regulars. This awesome family included. We scored the most beautiful sunset in the prettiest location, and the girls were loving performing for the camera (and i was loving their hilarious personalities!). Thanks so much for coming back year after year Amanda, it means a lot. You pack of stunners. x
I've had the best of both worlds with this little guy (& his mumma!). I photographed him as a newborn at their GORGEOUS home when he was a freshie. He also came to visit me in the studio late last year. WINNING! Mr personality or what?! If you're considering a studio mini, here are just a FEW of my faves from this session, to give you an idea of what you can expect.
Besides being SUPER cute, the clifford kids are some of the most beautifully behaved kids i've ever had the pleasure of meeting! Mum and dad are pretty awesome too ;-) It's ALWAYS a pleasure to see this gorgeous family, I LOVED our pre-chrissy beach shoot last year. They make it just too easy!
I say it a lot. I LOVE it when clients come back again and again. I love seeing little families grow and their babes becoming munchkins. I first met miss Bonnie when she was just a few days old & I was SO stoked when her mum & dad brought her back for her 1 year old mini. Such a little doll. Keep an eye out for Ace Ventura right at the end too ;-)
There's not much that's more flattering (or nerve-wracking!) than photographing another photographer and their loves. Even more so when they travel all the way from Melbourne for a session. It was SUCH a pleasure to finally meet the gorgeous and incredibly talented Angela and her lovely, lovely family late last year. This trio is now a happy family of four and I can't wait until the next time we meet.
