REX AT HOME - warrnambool newborn lifestyle photography

I initially really struggled with the idea of sending my kids off to school/kinder (bear with me, this is leading somewhere relevant i promise). I clearly remember the first time Archie came home from kinder singing a song that I hadn't taught him. Until then, their dad and I (and those around us) had been pretty much solely responsible for their learning + it took a bit of letting go on my part to hand them over to be taught by others. I needn't have worried though, of course. We've been incredibly fortunate that our kids have had SUCH wonderful teachers (yay!). Including this beautiful lady here, who's taught both our kids for almost three years.

I'll admit, when I found out Ange was pregnant, a tiny, selfish part of me was gutted that she'd be leaving us (we all, especially our kids, LOVE her). But that was immediately outweighed, of course, by the excitement that she and hubby Joe would soon enjoy the incredible journey of becoming parents.

And as expected, they're naturals. Ange is a besotted, loving, beautiful mum who's slipped effortlessly into the role (I'm sure you'll have days where you don't feel like that Ange, but that's what it looks like from where i'm sitting!)

We simply couldn't be happier for you Ange + Joe, with the addition of gorgeous Rex Joseph to your little family. And he's every bit as beautiful as we knew he would be. And so diddy! With the best little expressions! Well done, you clever pair!

Here are just a few of my faves from my visit to meet darling little Rex at home...

(PS... shoutout to all you amazing teachers out there, i honestly don't know how you do it!)

In my attempt to plough through some sneak peeks, i'll keep the descriptions brief (hard!!), the photos beautiful and the number of photos slightly fewer...
Here's a few of my faves from my recent BUB session with the gorgeous O'Keefe family as they welcome baby VANCE to the gang. Thanks Sally + Simon, i've loved it!
Keep an eye out for Kingston's awesome grotty face towards the end, some of my favourite photos! Legend. :-)

GEORGIES GANG - warrnambool beach sunset family photography

Hopefully you can tell from my tone when I post (i always wish I was more eloquent), that i'm GENUINELY excited by every session I have, stoked to meet so many beautiful families and love, love, love that families put their trust in me to capture a snapshot of their lives. I think THIS kind of family session particularly resonates with me at the moment, as it's the blissful, chaotic, crazy-busy and fun state I find myself in with my own family right now. The beautiful growing family.

I know I harp on about existing in photos, but hopefully any insecurities and hesitations are completely obliterated when you see your family, your love, your moments, captured forever. Photos are SO precious. Memories for our kids. And heck, any excuse to hang out with your gang at the beach is a good night!!

Georgie, i'm so, SO happy we met at the beach last week. These photos absolutely make my heart sing (yes, that sounds soft and hippy I know, but it's true), and THIS; these photos, this night, these memories... is EXACTLY why I love doing this so much.

You have a BEAUTIFUL family Georgie, In absolutely every respect.
I hope you love these photos as much as I do. It was a privilege to hang with you. xx

PS... this is a tiny weenie handful of my favourites, I feel a "part 2" coming on!

HELLO JAMES - Warrnambool newborn studio photography

I've had the privilege of photographing all 3 of the beautiful Schulz babes not long after they've entered the world, and as I say often, I am SO very grateful for all the gorgeous families who come back time after time to document their milestones. The Schulz family are as lovely as they are stunning (hello stunning big eyes!). Congrats on your 3rd little bundle of beautiful, Abbey + Simon, you have the sweetest family. I so loved seeing you all again last week.

PS... have you heard of the fabulous Schulz Organic Dairy? That's their other baby, and boy is it getting big! Congrats guys, you're killing it!

HELLO LUCA - warrnambool newborn studio photography

Beautiful Luca's newborn session was actually meant to be a BUMP 2 BUB package. But this gorgeous, smiley little man had other ideas! He arrived about a month early, the day before our planned BUMP session actually! He visited the studio this week, at 3 weeks old, with his beautiful mum + dad. The smiles were coming thick and fast, such a content little bub. An absolute pleasure. I'll be completely honest, I get a little nervous before studio sessions these days, there's not as much room for "variety" as my favourite in-home sessions. BUT, then I see all the beautiful photos we get on the day and i'm utterly, totally in love with studio again. It's all about the love at the end of the day. And there was plenty of it with this trio. (Thanks for being a trooper with all the poo/wee-explosions too dad!). Luca you're a little legend, it was so lovely to FINALLY meet you Sam + Andrew. Congrats xx

The lovely Gavin's met me on Saturday for a chilly morning mini session (possibly one of the easiest ones i've ever done, thank you beautifully behaved kiddos!!). Here are just a few of my faves. Thanks for meeting me so early Ella + the gang, and for being such superstars!

HANNAH + HER MEN - warrnambool lifestyle family photography

I wish I was more eloquent. Especially when describing how I feel about the sessions + families i'm so fortunate to capture + meet. I send all of my clients a quick little questionnaire to fill out before their session, just to get a insight into them and help me plan the perfect session. After reading Hannah's i thought "I think i'm really going to love these guys". And love I did. Not only are they a GORGEOUS gang, but they just happen to live in an uber-stylish house. But uber-stylish aside, it's a house thats chock-full of family memories, rooms and furniture that MEAN so much + hold such special memories for Hannah. Add to that, some crazy-beautiful brotherly love (16 year old Bailey was an absolute champion with his little bros, such a credit to his mumma), some cheeky toddler fun, loved up mum + dad, did I mention uber-stylish house... and well, I'm only just scratching the surface of why I loved it so much.

Thanks so much for welcoming me into your lovely home Hannah, Charlie + boys and for trusting me to capture some precious moments in your special place. I'm so happy to have met you.

(There was a noticeable lack of blueys and zinc though Charlie, disappointing... next time!)

DOOLAN FAMILY SNEAK PEEK - warrnambool family photography

I can't even begin to imagine how busy the past year has been for this gorgeous family. I mean, our third child is a whirlwind, to put it lightly, but TWO babies about to turn one; that's a pretty epic cause for a pat on the back, Bel + Sam!! It was a busy session, there were a few tears (and that was just me... jokes!), but these are my favourite kind of session; I call them beautiful chaos. I drive away thinking, "heck I hope I got something, that was a busy one!" but then every time I end up grinning from ear to ear as I edit (utterly relieved!). I even love that in quite a few of the shots, at least one of the twins has called it quits while everyone else just carries on grinning. That's life, you've gotta laugh! Thanks so much for having me at your beautiful property Doolan family, I can't begin to tell you how much I loved it. Hopefully the pictures do that for me...

Hooray for BUMP 2 BUB sessions! I met up with this gorgeous family of soon-to-be-five a few weeks back, they've since welcomed this gorgeous bump into the world (yay!) but I couldn't help but share some of my faves now that i've finished up their gallery. How picture perfect is this gang?! Straight out of a magazine. Can't WAIT to meet new baby Vance for his BUB session in their home (again, YAY!). Congrats Sally, Simon & boys. I bet you've got this party of five business down pat x

I have a bit of a special place for these guys. I've had the privilege of capturing Sam's beautiful BUMP, was there to capture the arrival of baby Lincoln and now 4 months later, completed this gorgeous trilogy with their BUB session in my studio. I've just realised i haven't yet blogged any images from their bump or birth, I may do that later if Sam is keen. For now, here are just a few of my favourites from last weeks session. HOW ABOUT LINC'S EYELASHES?! And Miss Peyton was an absolute dream, super big sister! 2 beautiful babes, how clever are Sam and Troy? I can't wait to photograph again them in a few months with their big boys too :-) Thanks guys, it's been an ABSOLUTE pleasure to have "worked" with you xx

MILO'S MINI SESH - warrnambool family photography

One thing that brings me SO much joy is to see my families come back time after time. These guys are particularly memorable for me in that they were the first family to trust me to capture their beautiful brand new babe Milo AT HOME. Thus began my obsession with lifestyle photography. So thanks Kate for that little nudge! So glad we did it! It was such a pleasure to see them again almost 2 years on for a mini session at the breakwater. I won't like, it was cold, windy and wet under foot and poor little Milo was a bit over it all by the end of it, but how gorgeous is this soft winter light behind this beautiful family? Totally worth it!! Thanks again Kate, Elliot, Milo and Ari the wonder dog. You are one gorgeous little family :-)

HANNAH TURNS ONE! warrnambool studio photography

I first met Fiona at her bump session, she was pregnant with this beautiful little poppet. It was a while ago now but I still remember our lovely chat; how she was feeling about knowing her baby would be born with a cleft palate, and how she decided not to ignore this fact, nor make a big deal of it. So we captured beautiful baby Hannah in all her newborn gorgeousness (she was SUCH a darling, superstar baby too!), plus we arranged to see her again in the studio for a mini session post-surgery. Here are some of my favourites from her newborn session, you may remember these, she was shown SO much love when I posted these, I know her mum Fiona really appreciated it.
Scroll down for her second session...

Enter 1 year old, post-surgery beautiful baby Hannah! I was so so happy to see her and her lovely mum Fiona again, I loved this session. Wouldn't you know it though, the poor little poppet managed to faceplant something right before her session (as they tend to do!). So her beautiful lips were a little swollen and bruised, but I tried to edit them as little as possible. Such an amazing transformation for an already beautiful baby girl.

I'm SO grateful that you asked me to document this time in Hannah's and your lives Fiona, A time that she won't remember but will treasure the photos from i'm sure. Can't wait to see you guys all again. xx

NED AT HOME - warrnambool in-home newborn lifestyle photography

This beautiful trio is yet another of my recent FAVE sessions. Again, all the elements point to an absolutely perfect scenario, all I had to do was go in there and shoot the gorgeousness. Amazing, unique house (yes another squeal as i drove up the driveway!), styled to perfection, beautiful, BEAUTIFUL, ridiculously-photogenic family and then there's baby Ned. LOOK AT THOSE DIMPLES!!! This is a perfect example of why I LOVE photographing slightly older babes. The eye contact, the smiles and the personality. It's just the best.

So if you've just had a baby but think you've left it too late for newborn photos? No way jose! I LOVE that 2-4month age, bring me your babes!

Thanks Bec, Matt and beautiful Mr Ned. This is one of my all-time fave sessions, and I absolutely LOVED meeting you guys. xx

HELLO INDI - Warrnambool lifestyle newborn photography

I do go on a bit about how much I love in-home lifestyle photography (to the point where i'm actually considering ditching the studio altogether, eek!). I also go on about how "you don't need an amazingly glamorous house", which is absolutely true. All I need is a beautiful little pocket of light and a loved up little family and i'm THERE. With bells on. I have to admit though, I may have done a little happy dance as I drove up Dermott and Steffs driveway (after I picked my jaw up off the floor!) and parked in front of their GORGEOUSLY reno'd period home. I may or may not have let out some quiet little squeals as they showed me around inside (i'm such a dork).

And then I saw this brand new family all together and to be honest, we could've been at the tip and it would still have been the most beautiful sight. There's something very special about 2 becoming 3. And little Miss Indi is simply divine. Such a gorgeous little family, and have I mentioned their 5 (YES 5!) dogs?? As I drove home I actually thought to myself "if i've managed to stuff this up then i'm hanging up my camera!"... incredible location, beautiful family, lovely light. I couldn't ask for a more perfect opportunity.

Thanks Steff, Dermi & baby Indi, hopefully you gathered from my excitement on the day, that I LOVED hanging with you!

PS... scroll right down to the end to see some of my faves from their gorgeous BUMP session too!

and not forgetting their gorgeous studio BUMP session! I'm a bit in love with Steff's hair!

THE FABULOUS DRAFFENS - warrnambool family lifestyle photography

There's so much I want to say about these guys and this session. In short: this is one of my favourite families and this is one of my ABSOLUTE favourite sessions. Simple as that. The beautiful Draffen's have been with me from my humble beginnings and have been the most wonderful, wonderful regulars. And what makes that even more special to me is that mum Kate takes the most AMAZING photos herself. Her instagram feed is a beautiful documentation of her kids' life, one which I love to follow and one which they'll love her for when they're older. So i'm beyond flattered that they keep coming back. It was my aim during this session to make sure KATE was in front of the camera for once, so I did focus a lot on this gorgeous mumma, which I think is only fair.

I won't lie, I got in the car after our session last night, hands frozen in the shape of my camera thinking "oh heck, i hope I got something special for them, that was hectic (they have 4 kids, hello?!)". But then I couldn't wipe the massive beaming smile off my face as i looked through them at home later that night, and then I couldn't edit them quickly enough to show Kate tonight.

We embraced the beautiful chaos that a family of 6 brings with it, I over-shot like a champion and we rolled with the crazy, FREEZING wind and hiccups... and as a result I have a collection of photos that I am SO damn proud of and am busting to show off. Sure I have heaps of your more traditional "smile and wave kids" portrait-style photos still to add, you have to have them in there of course, but THESE ones, these are the ones that make my heart utterly sing. All the feels (sorry I hate that expression but there it is!), the imperfection (yes more than a little blur) and ALL THAT LOVE. I opened their gallery tonight to find just ONE shot to share, and I came out with over 100 "favourited" images, so I decided to do things a little differently and share my absolute faves in a little blog post. I'm sure i'll find more when I have a proper look!

I can't thank you enough Kate, truly, for bringing your beautiful family to me time and time again. I absolutely love this gallery, and hope you do too! Until next time (!!) lovely xx

PS... how BEAUTIFUL is Kate?! And i think we have a budding photographer in Mr Caleb, he was loving my fuji!
